Memb.rs admin area provides the facility to export various member data to a CSV file.
This guide will detail the process of exporting member data and importing it correctly in to Excel, however other spreadsheet applications (such as Google Sheets) will follow a similar process.
Please Note:
Opening the downloaded csv file directly in Excel (eg double clicking the downloaded file) will remove leading zeros from phone numbers, therefore it is advised to follow this guide to import the data to prevent formatting issues.
Select the members you wish to export, this can be all members, or you may use any segment views you have created to filter the members.
Press the Export option at the top right of the Members screen, as shown below.
You will be given a download message box, save the file to a suitable location.
You must add the .csv file extension to the file.
You may also rename the file as needed.
Open Excel and create a new blank workbook.
Once the spreadsheet has opened, select the Data tab in the top ribbon menu.
A file open dialog window will open, locate and select the file downloaded earlier and press the Import button.
Excel will now show a dialog window with various steps that must be completed to import the data correctly.
Step 1
Keep the default settings and press Next
Step 2
Change the Delimiter to be Comma in the top left section.
The Data Preview window will update to show how the data will be separated in to columns.
Step 3
This step is where the data columns can be set to specific data types.
For each of the columns with phone numbers select the column (red highlighted box below) and then select the Text option in the "Column Data Format" section (red arrow below)
Once completed press the Finish button.
Excel will then ask where the imported data should be put, typically it should be as shown below.
Excel will then open the imported data in the spreadsheet, as shown below. The phone numbers have retained their leading zero.
